The Troubadours, a hand-picked group of Duchy Opera soloists, are a tough operatic rapid-response unit ready at a moment’s notice to bring relief to any trouble-spot that is suffering from a lack of opera. They will be presenting staged operatic scenes for the Roseland Music Society in Portscatho on May 14th, the evening culminating with the gloriously chaotic finale to Act II of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.

Duchy Opera soloists performed a range of Italian music (in Italian) to serenade dinner guests at the hotel, where waiters dressed as gondoliers and diners wore masks. The atmosphere was splendidly festive; our music was very well received and compliments abounded: "Wonderful Voices - Thank you!"
It was appropriate to have Antonio Caiazzo (Italian) and Marc de Jongh (Dutch but Italian-speaking) in the line-up for the first time for this Venetian programme. Thanks go to Paul Drayton for his magnificent accompaniment and also to Cheryl Brendish, Bruce Cross, Sue Lancaster, Saffron Jones, Ian Kinver and Becky Scamp. |
