Fabulous Dress Rehearsal last night with beautiful glorious singing and lovely accompaniment. Great to see the set and costumes all together in one place. Belcore's uniform has now ARRIVED with effusive apologies from the London costumiers - "it's magnificent", as Nemorino would say. Come and see The Elixir of Love tomorrow (Weds) at Truro College 7.30 - we will have some tickets at the door, or book via CRBO ow.ly/DsCAE

The ELIXIR will be arriving in Truro College (Mylor Theatre) a week today - Wednesday 29th OCTOBER "....This amazing remedy is what you ought to buy, You bachelors and husbands, you girls and married women, Don’t wait because I only have a limited supply. And here I have a recipe especially prepared by me for curing any malady immediately and unfailingly. It kills the worst rheumatic pain, relieves a cough and muscle strain; No matter what your trouble is, it makes you feel like new. Though this may seem a paradox, it also cures the chicken-pox, It makes hysteric girls serene, makes thin men fat, and fat men lean." Why wait? Come and get some! Members of a Cornish operatic society found themselves with a fantastic photo opportunity when a pair of friendly policeman came across their rehearsal. The two officers were glad to lend a hand to the Duchy Opera and ‘arrest’ the itinerant quack doctor who is the star of their latest production, Donizetti’s comic opera Elixir of Love. John Clifton-Griffith and Aaron Bevan felt the collar of Dr Dulcamara, who had promised his magic elixir would also eradicate a variety of ailments including mumps, the hives and whooping cough. However, on examining the contents and the officers said it appeared to be nothing more than red wine and released Dr Dulcamara in time for the Duchy Opera’s performance next month. Elixir of Love will be performed at the Mylor Theatre in Truro College on October 29 and 30, St Mary’s Church Penzance on November 1, and Falmouth’s Princess Pavilion on November 2.
