Do you have a free evening on Saturday Sept 17th? Fancy doing something a bit Different? Daring? Challenging? After their success as finalists in the WOCA Awards 2016, members of Duchy Opera are launching their next exciting production - Verdi’s opera "La Traviata". It will be staged in Falmouth (Princess Pavilion) on June 9th/10th 2017 and at the Minack Theatre on July 3rd - 7th. They are looking for Soloists, Chorus Members and Backstage crew. Could YOU fit the bill? The LAUNCH will be at Tresillian Village Hall on Sat Sept 17th at 7.00 pm. Why not jog along and see what's the score? Director Richard Jackson (director of Duchy's 2014 opera “The Elixir of Love” ) and Musical Director, Paul Drayton, will be there to greet you. Refreshments as well. On November 29th we are holding a Masterclass in Truro School Chapel. It will be led by Richard Jackson, and will be an opportunity for singers of all voices to work on the performance and interpretation of their own selected pieces, whether for audition, as preparation for recitals or just as a learning experience. Richard has many years' experience of working with singers in Opera, Lieder and Classical English song at many levels at establishments such as the Royal College of Music. Currently he is directing our opera The Elixir of Love. This is a great opportunity to gain from his knowledge and skills, and to enhance your performance.

Duchy Opera is currently casting roles for the autumn 2014 performance (in English) of Donizetti's "Elixir of Love", particularly for this Bass/Baritone role. The travelling 'quack', Dr. Dulcamara, arrives unexpectedly at a small town in the Basque country, peddling his bottled cure-of-all-ills to the locals.
