"A company which refuses to rest on its laurels, is eager to experiment, and keen to attract a new audience to the world of opera" - Lee Trewhela - The West Briton.

Becky Scamp wowed the Sterts audience with this fun 1910 comic Music Hall 'party piece' made famous by Patricia Routledge

I want to sing in Opera
I've got that kind of voice
I'd always sing in Opera
If I could have my choice
Signor Caruso
Told me I ought to do so
That's why I want to sing in opera
Sing in op-pop-pop-popera.

Sunday's Summer Serenade at Sterts

4/8/2015

We spent an enjoyable afternoon at the Sterts Amphitheatre where a very appreciative audience enjoyed our varied programme, which included opera and operetta highlights (L'Elisir d'Amore, Cosi fan Tutte, Die Fledermaus, Le nozze di Figaro, Tales of Hofmann, Madama Butterfly, La Traviata, Rusalka, Rinaldo and Pirates of Penzance) and lighter items from musicals (Les Miserables and The Boyfriend) with some Gershwin and Jerome Kern thrown in for extra frivolity, all expertly accompanied by Paul Drayton. Becky Scamp delighted us with her hilarious performance of "I want to sing in opera" as did Kay Deeming and Cheryl Brendish with their 'alternative' Lakme duet.
