We spent an enjoyable afternoon at the Sterts Amphitheatre where a very appreciative audience enjoyed our varied programme, which included opera and operetta highlights (L'Elisir d'Amore, Cosi fan Tutte, Die Fledermaus, Le nozze di Figaro, Tales of Hofmann, Madama Butterfly, La Traviata, Rusalka, Rinaldo and Pirates of Penzance) and lighter items from musicals (Les Miserables and The Boyfriend) with some Gershwin and Jerome Kern thrown in for extra frivolity, all expertly accompanied by Paul Drayton. Becky Scamp delighted us with her hilarious performance of "I want to sing in opera" as did Kay Deeming and Cheryl Brendish with their 'alternative' Lakme duet. |
