"Simply wonderful. Cheryl Brendish was outstanding - a veritable star! Quite the best evening of my 12 years of membership of Duchy Opera!" It even beats the 2005 Die Fledermaus - my first attendance (less said about the more recent version -the better!) Thank goodness for the traditional staging in full costume - can I hope this trend may be continued in the future? Please pass this on to all who went to make this such a memorable evening. Of course - the next production will be expected to surpass this..."
"......how much I enjoyed last night’s performance and how impressed I was with the standard of the production in every respect. First, Paul Drayton, responsible for the splendid singing from the chorus to the principals, especially the main trio: the ‘everlasting’ John Hobbs (how has he managed to retain such quality over the years?); Arthur Swan, new to me, but I hope he will come again; and Cheryl, in what must have been one of the most challenging roles she has ever had. I especially appreciated her singing in the last act which was beautiful in its restraint."
"The staging and costumes were fine and the chorus movement was drilled (Jesse Giulani) and the orchestra responded well to Paul’s direction. "
